Everything
is connected. The various systems we use for divination
and to reveal hidden mystical connections and truths all
stem from a greater root source. At the core of each system
is a common foundation. By going to this basic level of
understanding, one may then recombine diverged systems
to bring forth new insight and information.
One
such recombination is The 10-Day Cycle of Tarot and Astrology.
It allows a method of relating the Minor Arcana of the
Tarot to Astrology. The cards then become keys to the
understanding not only to the basic condition of the personality
born during that period, but as well, a clue to the nature
of the life lessons that personality will face.
A
quite complete and detailed examination of the 10-Day
Cycle may be found in Muriel Bruce Hasbrouck's excellent book: 'Tarot And Astrology The
Pursuit of Destiny'. The author
does a wonderful job of setting out the key personality
traits, both positive and negative of each of the 36 different
Decans.
In
this system, the wheel of the year is divided into 36
periods of 10 degrees each. As it works out, three such
periods cover each of the traditional astrological signs.
Each of the signs of the Zodiac is associated with one
of the classic elements. Each element rules three signs.
This means there are 9 cycles to each element. Each 10
day cycle is referred to as a Decan.
The
aces are not used as they describe the unformed raw energy
at work. Instead the 2- 10 of each tarot suit can be mapped
to each of the 9 cycles relating to the element of that
suit. Mapping starts with the Cardinal sign of each element,
and then progresses through the year.
For
example, the suit of Swords relates to the element of
Air. The three astrological Air signs are Libra, Aquarius,
and Gemini. Libra is the Cardinal Air sign, so the 2,
3, and 4 of swords describe the three cycles that fall
in Libra. The 5, 6, and 7 relate to Aquarius, and the
8, 9, and 10 relate to Gemini.
As
we go forward through the year, we will have an opportunity
to progress through each cycle, and explore what it means
to be born during that period. It is not my intention
to go into the personality analysis in the manner the
book does. What is more important, is that the message
of each card also hints at the nature of the most important
life lessons the personality born during that time must
overcome. . . . . . . . /How do I follow my life lesson ....
